Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh Travel Guide

Tawang is a town situated in the mountainous region of the state of Arunachal Pradesh, India. It is the head quarter of the district of the same name Tawang district. The town is located at the altitude of 3048 m and is mainly known for its monasteries. It happens to be the birth place of sixth Dalai Lama ( the spiritual head of the Buddhists). The town is situated amid a picturesque nature and offers the visitors many places of attraction in and around it. Tawang Monastery is an old one and regarded as the most sacred place by the Buddhist in the region. The monastery houses an 8 m high beautiful statue of Lord Buddha.
