Simhachalam town famous for Simhachalam Temple is located near Visakhapatnam in the state of Andhra Pradesh in India. The main deity in the temple is of Sri Varahalakshmi Narshima Swamy an incarnation of lord Vishnu/Krishna. Lord Narsihma incarnated as a half man with a lion head to eliminate the Asura, Hiranyakashipu. This is the second richest temple site after tirumala Devsthanam of Tamil Nadu. The Andhra Pradesh Government in 2007 has passed a plan to develop the town as Divyakshetram in the lines of Tirumala Devasthanam.
