Rupnagar is a city and district in Punjab state of India. Formerly known as Ropar, the other cities in Ropar district are Kurali, Morinda, Chamkaur Sahib and Anandpur Sahib. Earlier Mohali was a part of Ropar but it has become a separate district now. The Bhakra Dam in Nangal town lies in Rupnagar district border with Himachal Pradesh on its Northern side.
