According to mythology it is believed that three gods Lord Brahma, Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu combined together in one form, known as Jyotiba to kill the demon Ratnasur. The temple is visited many devotees from across the state. Kolhapur railway station serves as the nearest rail head to Panhala. It is just 30 km away from the hill town. The railway station is well connected by many trains to other cities and towns of the state. Kolhapur also serves as the closest airbase to Panhala. Chhatrapati Shivaji Airport of Mumbai is the nearest international airport to it. The airport is well linked to other major cities of India and other countries.
