Lavasa is a city near Pune (Maharashtra) constructed by private owners. This is a planned township designed and structured by the Lavasa Corporation. Hindustan Construction Company shares the major shareholdings. . The city is situated in the Western Ghats of India. The city is yet to be completed, even though, most of the amenities have been set up. Year 2020 is the estimated deadline to complete the project. The city is ready with sports units like golf course, Hockey and Football academies and water sports units. It is a well planned city intending to provide all the modern amenities including international schools, colleges, and hospitals. The construction of the Lavasa city project has been stopped by the Maharashtra State Government at present. The project is facing many trials for the land acquisition (illegal), for disturbing the ecosystem, and also for cases of corruption. All that set apart, the city offers good quality entertainment for the visitors. A family on a weekend getaway can certainly have good time at the eating joints, and at the theme parks. Water sports and adventure trekking are the highlights of Lavasa tourism. The city can be reached via Pune (about 180 km).
