Coimbatore is the second largest city in Tamil Nadu and the fourth largest in South India. Most often it is known as the Manchester of southern India due to textile production. The city is the headquarters of the Coimbatore district in Tamil Nadu located in the Western Ghats region. Coimbatore is located at about 370 km from Bangalore via Salem (167 km). The hill station Ooty is at about 85 km, Kodaikenal is at about 172 km, and Munnar is about 156 km away from the city. It would be easy for you to reach out above mentioned hill resorts once if you reach Coimbatore.
