Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh Travel Guide

Chittoor is a city of Indian southern state of Andhra Pradesh. It is the headquarter of the district of the same name ‘’Chittoor district’’. Chittoor is a market of peanuts, grain and sugarcane. Oil seeds and rice milling are some of its industries. It is also known for the production mangos and hatcheries. Along with Telugu, the principal language of the city, Kannada and Tamil are other languages widely spoken there. Chittoor weather condition remains hot and dry most of the times in the year. Many people who are planning wedding go there for shopping. Located 30 km away from Chittoor, Ponnai houses a ashram and a beautiful temple. This place is calm and soothing and ideal one to unwind. Thangal ashram is another beautiful place around Chittoor. It is situated 20km away from Chittoor in neighboring state Tamil Nadu. It can be visited any time but full moon days are the best time to visit this Asharam. You can also visit Famous Nutrite Confectionary which is situated in Chittoor near Iruvaram If you are interested in some adventure activities like trekking, Chittoor has many places ideal for trekking around it. Chase Pillar, Bondi Konda, Puligundu are some them.

 

How to get there: The city is conveniently linked by road and rail to other parts of the state and the country. It is situated on Bangalore- Chennai highway and thus well connected to other cities and towns of the state and the country. It has its railway station and you can directly reach the city by train from Chennai, Tirupati, Kanyakumari and other cities of the state. Chennai Airport is the nearest airport for Chittoor. The airport is 135km away from the Chittoor and well connected by many flights to Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and other major cities of the country. If you visit the city do not forget to buy mango Pickles. Chittoor offers it visitors all varieties of mango pickles.
